Welcome to the Top 5 – an interview series where we focus on the all-time favorite products praised by members of the beauty community. Here, you’ll discover their personal top picks within the skin, hair, makeup, and wellness categories.

“Hi! My name is Olivia, I’m 22, and I am a psychology graduate studying for a Master’s in Health Psychology. I run an Instagram account called @livglows_ and I am a huge makeup fan. I watched beauty and lifestyle YouTubers throughout my teenage years, but I did not start getting into makeup properly until perhaps the first year of university.

I love makeup for so many reasons. First, quite simply, I love pretty things – but it is so much more than that. I love the makeup application process (sitting down with music or a podcast and just spending time putting on some makeup – unrushed- is so therapeutic to me). What’s more, viewing makeup content and learning about new releases keeps me up-to-date in the beauty world.

Picking my favorite items was so hard! But I went with the products that I see as absolute staples. The ones that – regardless of what look I’m doing or where I’m going- are key products in my everyday makeup bag and would always repurchase.

#1: Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette

This palette is one of my absolute all-time favorite palettes. It was the first high-end one that I bought for myself, and so for that reason, it’ll always hold a kind of sentimental value to me. It is just the perfect everyday warm-toned peachy palette. I use it almost every day, whether I’m doing a simple, natural look or only using the transition shades for a bolder, more colorful look. I also reach for it when I’m feeling uninspired and unsure of what to do because it’s just so simple to use.

My go-to look involves taking the lighter shades and sweeping them all over the lid. Then, I’ll go in with the deeper shades to add depth to the crease. And finally, I’ll take a neutral shimmer shade from another palette and place it on the lid to achieve a gorgeous eye look

This palette’s quality is brilliant; it’s pigmented and easy to blend, so it’s great for beginners, but it’s also a perfect staple for anyone, in my opinion. Plus, it smells lovely but isn’t too strong if you are sensitive to scents.

#2: Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer

This concealer is my absolute all-time fave base product when it comes to concealer and foundation. If I could only have one product for my base makeup, it would be this concealer. The coverage is absolutely INSANE that most days, I use this alone and skip foundation entirely. Because of this, it feels more lightweight and comfortable than a typical “full face.” It also wears well and can be used to prime the eyelids – although I have to admit it can crease under my eyes, but it’s nothing a bit of setting powder can’t fix. Finally, this concealer is so affordable, which makes repurchasing a no-brainer.

#3: Charlotte Tilbury’s Hot Lips 2 in ‘In Love With Olivia’

I adore this lipstick not only because of the shade and but the experience of using it. It may sound silly, but gliding Charlotte Tilbury products onto my face feel so luxe; a treat. “In Love With Olivia” is housed in an absolutely stunning case and is just a joy to use! But more importantly, the quality of the lipstick itself is high-performing.

The formula is creamy and silky, giving a beautiful sheen-like finish. It is so comfortable to wear and feels moisturizing, unlike other lipsticks, which can often feel heavy or cling to your dry patches. Plus, the color is just the perfect pink shade that compliments my skin tone and nearly any eye look! Oh, and did I mention it features my name? Making it all the more special to wear.

#4: Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

This is a new discovery of mine, thanks to the recommendation of several people on Instagram. First of all, it is £3.30 ($4.62) … like WHAT!! This is probably the cheapest makeup product I own, yet one of the best. I don’t have much to say, except it is a fantastic mascara. And for being so budget-friendly, I will NEVER repurchase a high-end mascara. In my opinion, it’s better than Benefit’s They’re Real. It lengthens and separates my lashes nicely, it does not flake or clump together, and I’m just so happy I found this gem.

#5: bareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation SPF15

I finish up the list with bareminerals Loose Powder Original Foundation. I love this product because it is so lightweight yet surprisingly provides great coverage for a powder foundation. It is super easy to use, and it’s perfect for no-makeup days OR extra coverage if you’re going all out (perhaps for a night out).

Yes, it blends out like a dream, but what’s really cool about this product is that it almost has a blurring effect on the skin the more you buff it out. I also appreciate that it is a mineral foundation, so I feel like it is a better choice if I’m having problematic skin. And how could I forget about the SPF aspect – not that it’s anywhere near sufficient protection, but it doesn’t hurt to have!”
