Welcome to the Top 5 – an interview series where we focus on the all-time favorite products praised by members of the beauty community. Here, you’ll discover their personal top picks within the skin, hair, makeup, and wellness categories.

Keren (@handlewithkere) isn’t afraid to go bold and colorful when it comes to makeup. In fact, I’d like to think this is part of her signature move. Rhinestones on the lids, icy blues, vivid pinks – there’s no shortage of inspo on her Instagram profile. “I find inspiration everywhere, including from other creators,” she says.

But more than this, it’s her perspective on makeup that I find refreshing and downright relatable. Like so many of us, she believes that makeup serves as a form of self-care, a way to “just hang out” with yourself. It cuts out the noise and distractions from the day, encouraging you to sit with your thoughts and reflect while doing something that brings pure joy. I mean, this is the definition of self-love, is it not?

And when it came time for Keren to select the MVPs in her makeup kit, you best believe she delivered some showstoppers. Keep reading to learn more.

#1: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

“First off, Rihanna is the queen, and we stan. Secondly, I literally love this foundation. I find it hard for darker skin tones like myself to find a pretty accurate shade match. I have a yellow undertone, and typically, foundations in my shade have an orange undertone. Pro Filt’r is the first one that matches and oxidizes perfectly. Plus, it works best on my skin type, which tends to be oily in the t-zone and slightly dry everywhere else. I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else for my face.

#2: TreStique Brow Pencil

I discovered this brow product a couple of years ago from one of those monthly beauty subscription services. I love its texture and consistency – how it keeps my brow hairs looking natural. I don’t like to go too dark with my brow color, as it can look really harsh against my skin tone. So, I use the shade Espresso – a dark brown. On one side, you have the pencil to create those hair-like strokes, and the other side has a tinted brow gel. I love the texture and consistency of this gel – it’s almost mousse-like and gives my brows a feathered effect. And the pencil is really bomb. It blends into my skin really quickly.

#3: Buxom Plumping Lip Polish

This lip gloss by Buxom is incredible. At first, it kind of feels slightly tingly on the lips, but the sensation is not even the slightest bit uncomfortable. The finish is very natural and slightly tinted. I wear the shade Claire and find that it’s the perfect pink tone for every day.

#4: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter

Where do I begin with this highlighter? Let’s start with the finish. Because the powder is so refined, it feels so lightweight and buttery when applied to the skin. My go-to shade is Opal, which is a neutral tone that just makes me look like I’m glowing from within. And since Becca will no longer be operating come September, you best believe I’ll be stocking up.

#5: Anastasia Beverly Hills Makeup Brush # 7B

Okay, so I know this is not makeup, but this brush just had to make my top 5. It’s a super-thin angled brush that I’m guessing is used for your eyebrows to create hair-like strokes. But I use it for eyeliner. Since it’s angled, it glides onto your lid so easily and maintains super precision. It also works really well with the brand’s gel liner. It’s the brush I can’t get enough of. And anyone that’s tried it will know what I’m talking about.”
