Welcome to the Top 5 – an interview series where we focus on the all-time favorite products praised by members of the beauty community. Here, you’ll discover their personal top picks within the skin, hair, makeup, and wellness categories.

To say Jennifer (@glowthroughit_) knows a thing or two when it comes to skincare is an understatement. She’s put in the work, given the burdensome task of finding products that would work to combat her dry, sensitive skin. “I’ve always known taking care of your skin was important, but once I moved to New York from Florida, I quickly realized how much my skin did not like the harsh winters and city pollutants,” she says. A dermatologist recommended a few specific products that promised to deliver results – to no avail.

Rather than giving up, Jennifer took it upon herself to find what her skin needed. Skipping the one-size-fits-all approach, she focused on trial and error. Boosting hydration, plumping the skin, reducing redness was at the top of her priority list. Soon enough, she discovered brands that catered to her needs. “I fell in love with the diverse ways one could take care of their skin, the way beauty brands grew to be incredibly inclusive, and how much I learned about loving the skin I’m in.”

Here are her top 5 no-fail hydrating products:

#1: First Aid Beauty Ultra-Repair Cream

“My first winter here in NYC was a hot mess. The weather in New York is so different, which completely disturbed my skin. I began to break out, and it was almost like the cold climate was sucking out all the moisture. I tried Ultra-Repair Cream by First Aid Beauty, and my skin felt instantly relieved. It’s formulated with Colloidal Oatmeal and Shea Butter which are great for hydration and dry skin. And I love that I can use it all over my body, like my thighs and any other dry patches. It’s literally saved my skin, and I just feel so much better when I apply it.”

#2: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

“A lot of people don’t use Jet Lag as an overnight mask, but I’m obsessed with using it like this, 2-3 times per week. I wear a mask all day at work and am currently struggling with a bit of maskne (as I’m sure everyone else is, as well), so I definitely need more love around the center of my face; this is exactly what Jet Lag provides. It’s super hydrating, and when I wake up in the morning, the redness from my cheeks is hardly visible. My skin just drinks it up because it’s so good.”

#3: Krave Beauty Beet Shield

“Whewwwwwww chile! My heart is set on this SPF. I literally carry it with me at all times and have backups on backups to ensure I never run out. Beet Shield doesn’t feel greasy at all, and it sinks in so well into my skin that it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing SPF. Even though it is lightweight, the hydration levels are real! It leaves my skin dewy and glowing and even acts as an excellent primer, making my makeup look POPPIN!”

#4: Krave Beauty AHA Exfoliator Kale-Lalu-yAha

“I was really nervous about incorporating chemical exfoliators into my routine because of my sensitive skin, but low and behold, my skin is THRIVING! It gently removes uneven texture and hyperpigmentation. Plus, it contains skin-loving ingredients: hyaluronic acid, aloe, and vitamin B5, which help keep my skin soft, smooth, and hydrated. It does sting a little when I apply it, but I feel like a glowing angel when I wake up in the morning. It’s that good.”

#5: Glow Recipe Plump Plump Hyaluronic Serum

“Let me tell y’all about my best friend: Glow Recipe’s Plump Plump Hyaluronic Serum. It is one of the best serums I have ever purchased, TBH. It has a light consistency, which is great for layering with other products; it doesn’t pill and sinks into my skin quickly. My mild rosacea likes to pay me a visit during the Fall/Winter, and I’m dry as the Sahara Desert, so this serum instantly hydrates and gives me the best glow. Say bye to dull skin!”
